Just finished watching the debate on Fox.
I think Mitt Romney did very well, although I was surprised by the Luntz poll at the end. I thought other candidates did well also.
I listen to Hugh when I can and usually agree with him. I just can't get enthused about Mitt though.
For one, while his command of the issues and debate skills are top notch. I still thinks he lacks the human connection. Despite all his talk about policies, he didn't seem to relate it in such a way that the average person would see how it was going to improve their lives. There was lots of talk about how Washington was broken and how he was going to fix it, but nothing that struck about addressing the struggles of the middle class. I think that's where Huckabee makes more of connection.
I also think his statement of his family getting him enter the campaign came off as a little phony as well. Running for president, especially running the well organized and financed campaign (so I hear) that he has is not something you do just because your family prompted to you to join. If he would have said something more like he was struggling with the decision and his family pushed him over the edge, that would come across as more genuine.
I also think the timing of his change of heart on key issues and his aggressive "issue" adds to the impression that he is someone who will do whatever it takes to get elected.
Anyway, I'll definitely support him if he's the nominee. Don't know if he's my to choice though and would love to here if others feel the same.
